Belchim was founded in Belgium in 1987 by Mr Dirk Putteman, Managing Director, and became Belchim Benelux after expansion to the Netherlands. It now trades under the name of Belchim Crop Protection (BCP). Year after year, the company has been directing its primary focus towards specialised products and expanding its activities into France, The Netherlands, Germany, The United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Italy and the Nordic and Baltic regions.
Belchim Crop Protection now wishes to continue its focus on new technological developments and, in collaboration with its partners, to keep on developing other innovative products in various areas and on new segments such as bio products.
Since the formation of Belchim UK in 2003 the product range has been built mainly on that of FMC, including insecticides (e.g. Fury® 10 EW, Starion® FLO, Talstar® 80 FLO,…) and herbicides (e.g. Centium® 360 CS, Spotlight® Plus, Shark®, Platform® S, Gamit®…) and also ISK including the blight fungicides, Epok® and Ranman® Twinpack.
Since then Belchim have continued to move forward with new registrations from both FMC and ISK and also some of our own registrations.
In 2006 the aphicides Teppeki® and Mainman®, from ISK, were launched. These aphicides are of a new generation with a novel mode of action and importantly not a neonicotinoid mode of action.
In 2007 and 2009 respectively Belchim added a number of their own registrations to the portfolio, namely the blight fungicide Cymbal® 45WG and the vegetable herbicide Lentagran®.
Also in 2009 the following products were added to the Belchim portfolio; Metric® and Lingo® from FMC and the total residual herbicide Chikara® weed control from ISK.
Belchim also exclusively markets the biological product Contans® WG, the first biological product for the control of sclerotinia in any edible and non-edible crop.
