Mitsui & Co. Ltd. becoming shareholder of Belchim Crop Protection

Belchim Crop Protection N.V./S.A. (BCP) announces that Mitsui & Co.  Ltd.  (Mitsui) has reached agreement to acquire a controlling interest in BCP through Mitsui's affiliate, Mitsui AgriScience International S.A./N.V. (MASI). The agreement, 6 December 2019  means  that MASI will become shareholder of  BCP  by  acquiring  the  shares  held  by  Belchim Management N.V./S.A. and its affiliate. Subject to European Commission approval, the acquisition will be made in two stages; in the first, 30% of the BCP shares  will be  acquired along with control of the business. The remaining 32% will  be  acquired  in February 2021. BCP's other shareholders ISK Biosciences Europe N.V./S.A. (IBE) who is an affiliate of Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha Ltd. and Mitsui Chemicals Agro, Inc. (MCAG) are supportive of the acquisition.

Belchim will reinforce its mission to be the best market access to the farmers in Europe and North-America to provide innovative solutions based on products from its Japanese origin shareholders IBE and MCAG as well as other Japanese research companies and the innovative own Belchim products completed with the mature  products from  its partners such as Globachem.

Belchim will continue to act as an independent distribution company and will explore opportunities to collaborate and improve services to customers and suppliers with other members of the Mitsui group.
